How to Read a Peptide Certificate of Analysis (CoA) | Janoshik Guide

A graphic explaining how to read a peptide certificate of analysis (COA)

A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is one of the most important documents when purchasing research peptides. At BioForge Labs, we provide Janoshik CoAs with every batch to ensure full transparency and quality verification for researchers across Australia.

This guide will teach you exactly how to read a Janoshik Certificate of Analysis so you can confidently verify the purity and quality of your research materials.

What is a Janoshik CoA?

Janoshik Analytical is a well-respected independent laboratory known for accurate testing of research peptides. Their Certificates of Analysis provide third-party verification of two critical factors:

    • Identity – Confirms the compound is what it claims to be

    • Purity & Quantity – Measures how pure and how much active peptide is actually in the vial

Some of our CoAs are redacted to protect our supply chain while still showing the essential test results.

Key Sections of a Janoshik Peptide CoA Explained

1. Sample Information

    • Product name and batch number

    • Test date

    • Method used (usually HPLC)

2. Quantity Analysis (Weight Verification) This section shows the stated vial weight versus the actual measured weight.

    • Look for a discrepancy of 10% or less — this is normal and acceptable for high-quality research peptides.

    • A larger discrepancy may indicate issues with filling accuracy or moisture content.

3. Purity Analysis (HPLC Testing) This is the most important result for researchers.

    • HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) is the gold standard method used to determine peptide purity.

    • We only accept and sell batches that test ≥99%, with most coming back >99.5% pure.

    • Higher purity = better reproducibility in your experiments.

4. Additional Test Results

    • Appearance (white to off-white powder)

    • Solubility notes

    • Identification confirmation (mass spectrometry)

Example of What a Good Janoshik CoA Looks Like

    • Purity: 99.2% or higher

    • Quantity variance: Within ±10%

    • Clear identification of the peptide

Why CoAs Matter for Your Research

A proper Certificate of Analysis gives you:

    • Confidence in the quality of your research materials

    • Reproducible experimental results

    • Protection against low-quality or under-dosed peptides

    • Documentation for your own lab records
